Therapy provides a safe and confidential place for a person to talk to a professional about personal thoughts, feelings, or struggles in their lives. People who go to therapy may have experienced a situation the disrupts or impacts their thinking, mood, feelings, or ability to relate to others. A person may also seek out therapy because they want a safe and neutral place to talk about general life experiences.
Many people seek out therapy: adults, youth, teens, and even therapists themselves. Everyone needs somewhere they feel safe and supported. We are currently working with age groups from birth to twenty-three years old.
The role of a therapist is to help the person understand their situation, teach strategies to express themselves, and cope with potentially stressful situations.
The therapist can also offer the individuals or family tools to help them manage difficult feelings, and or negative thoughts and behaviors.
Therapy can assist in many different areas such as increasing positive communication, modifying behavioral struggles occurring at home or school, developing coping skills to manage everyday life stressors more appropriately, strategies to navigate difficult life transitions, change negative patterns of thinking that hold people back from reaching their full potential, increasing self-confidence, learning to regulate emotions in a healthy way, increasing motivation, helping to make positive choices, time management, among many others.
Struggles often addressed in therapy include: ADHD symptomology, academic performance, advocacy, school struggles, anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, communication concerns, life transitions, self esteem, grief/loss, peer relational struggles, trauma, OCD, phobias, parent-child conflict, parenting skills, parent support, among others.
